A bit of information about my Studio, KC Photo… KC Photo is a full service photography studio. It is the only retail photography studio and gallery in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. The studio is located at 8914 Reed Drive in the heart of Emerald Isle. I have been at this location since the year 2000. Professional photographer and owner of KC Photo, Kathy Campen is well known in the region for her beautiful family portraits taken on the beach in Emerald Isle. Kathy's "figures in the landscape" approach to beach portraiture creates an heirloom portrait that is a piece of art which will enhance your home today and for generations to come! The Gallery offers Fine Art Photographic Prints in both color and B&W. Most of the B&W prints for sale are archival fiber prints of museum quality offered matted and ready for framing. I also sell handmade greeting cards and postcards, many from local scenes. I have been documenting the Carteret County area for more than 10 years; so many of the images are of scenes that are no longer here. My area of emphasis has always been Bogue Inlet Pier. I have been photographing at the pier in B&W since 1996; therefore I have seen many changes in that region of the beach. I am unusual in that in most cases, For my Traditional Sessions, I choose to photograph with film and a medium format camera. I use a professional digital camera for Digital Sessions, candid work at weddings and small events. For my traditional color portrait work, I use a natural color professional film, which renders beautiful skin tones and muted landscapes. Black & White photography is an area in which I specialize, using both traditional and specialty film like infrared. I believe that B&W film yields a more beautiful tonal range than digital B&W, and my clients who love B&W prefer film. I do both location and studio portrait sessions. I love to work with children and families, high school seniors and brides including bridal portraits and weddings. For my portrait and wedding clients, I offer many options from portrait sessions. Enhancements of your print selections with all digital retouch services are available for your final portraits. You can choose Wall Portraits on Canvas or Fine Art Prints on Watercolor Paper known as Giclee Prints. I also offer Oil Portraits. Smaller prints are finished with a professional fine linen texture. I offer holiday cards, custom note cards, thanks you cards, announcement cards, custom printed books, key chains and calendars just to name a few extras that I can create for you. I offer the full line of Art Leather products from leather albums to portfolios. I also offer framing for my portrait clients and carry the complete line of Larson-Juhl frame moldings. Since I am a small one-person business, I can offer exceptional customer service to my clients. If you have a special request, I will try my best to provide it for you! I am available by appointment, so it is best to schedule a consultation so we can review your photography needs. In recent years, technology has impacted professional photographers. It is unfortunate, but many people believe it is their right to take the proofs from a session and scan them to print as they wish. This is NOT LEGAL, and has driven up the cost of photography from professional studios. A true professional photographer has had training to know how to pose people, handle the light in challenging situations, especially the beach in our area, and how to deal with people to create the best portraits possible from a sitting.
